The violent sequence took place at around 7:15 in the morning of 6 June. Two female friends, both in their twenties, were leaving a nightclub situated between Comedias and Nosquera streets when they noticed that two men of North African origin were following them closely. Fearing a theft of their mobile phones, they tried to avoid them, but one of the strangers approached one of them, insistently demanding hugs and kisses.
When the young woman refused, the individual exploded and attacked her with punches and kicks, causing her to lose consciousness as she fell against the pavement. The attacker did not stop his assault and continued striking the fallen young woman until a passer-by intervened to stop him. The aggressor and his accomplice managed to flee before the arrival of the police and medical emergency services.
Medical staff attended to the unconscious victim at the scene, who was evacuated by ambulance to a hospital in the Málaga capital to determine the severity of the head trauma and other injuries sustained. Her companion also required psychological assistance after suffering an anxiety attack.
The description provided by the witness who intervened allowed officers to track the flight of the two individuals. Minutes later, they located and arrested the main suspect, a 32-year-old man, who is accused of the offences of grievous bodily harm and sexual assault.
