One arrested following 86 robberies at business establishments and vehicle thefts across four provinces
The Guardia Civil arrested the suspected perpetrator of 86 criminal offences in Ocaña, committed between 2025 and 2026 in the provinces of Toledo, Madrid, Ciudad Real and Cuenca. According to ABC, Operation Vehivag, carried out by the Roca Team of the Ocaña company, made it possible to clarify a series of burglaries with force at business establishments and vehicle thefts that affected multiple municipalities in the region.
The investigation began in early 2025, when officers detected a significant increase in this type of crime in various Toledo localities. Among the municipalities initially affected were Ocaña, Quintanar de la Orden, Corral de Almaguer, La Puebla de Almoradiel, Villatobas and Villanueva de Alcardete. Over time, the criminal activity extended to neighbouring towns in other provinces.
The enquiries determined that most of the offences followed the same pattern of operation. The suspect is believed to have operated alone, moving around itinerantly between different municipalities. To do so, he used tools with which he manipulated and disabled the security systems of the vehicles he stole.
Once in possession of the vehicles, he used them to travel to the business establishments selected as targets. Among the shops affected were chemists' shops, restaurants, wineries, petrol stations and other commercial premises.
The progress of the investigation was supported by technical analysis of the offences, the gathering of evidence and the exchange of information between different Guardia Civil units. These efforts made it possible to focus suspicion on a man with a criminal record for offences against property, whose physical appearance matched what was observed during the commission of several of the robberies.
Officers carried out a search of the suspect's home in Ocaña, where they proceeded with his arrest. During the search, tools and other items were seized which, according to the investigation, had been used to commit the clarified offences.
