The sequence began with a report from a citizen that allowed officers to intercept a car. The driver attempted to identify himself with a document that was not his own. Once the deception was discovered, police officers subjected him to a drugs test, which came back positive for cocaine.
Upon verifying his true identity, officers confirmed that there were multiple arrest warrants against him issued by courts in various parts of the country. It was also established that he did not possess a driving licence.
During transport to a medical centre, the detainee displayed highly aggressive behaviour. He managed to break the rear window and the frame of a door of the police vehicle—which was moving at that moment—with the aim of jumping out and escaping. The manoeuvre was successful and the individual fled on foot.
Officers initiated a search on foot through a residential area. They eventually caught up with him, subdued him and proceeded to a new arrest, this time with enhanced security measures during transport.
In the course of the entire operation, several police officers sustained injuries. The suspect is now in the custody of the judicial authorities.
