Man arrested in Palencia for presenting false nursing qualification in recruitment process
National Police arrested a man in Palencia on 26 August for using falsified documentation to apply for a nursing position. He faces three counts of documentary forgery.
Arrested for falsifying nursing qualification to apply for healthcare post in Palencia
National Police detained a man in Palencia on 26 August on suspicion of presenting false documentation during a personnel recruitment process at a healthcare organisation in the provincial capital. According to ABC, the detainee is considered a suspected perpetrator of three counts of documentary forgery and was placed at the disposal of the courts following his arrest.
The case began on 2 June, when the suspect participated in a job interview for a nursing position. During that meeting, he claimed to possess the qualifications and professional experience required for the post.
On 8 June, the human resources department requested documentation proving his qualification. Among the files submitted were allegedly a document related to university degree verification and a professional association membership certificate.
Suspicions arose when the verification code included in one of the documents was checked: the search produced results linked to different academic qualifications from those the candidate claimed to hold. The healthcare organisation also consulted the relevant professional association, which confirmed that the suspect was not listed in its records in the manner reflected in the certificate presented.
Faced with these irregularities, the centre requested the original documents or the necessary evidence to proceed with the hiring process. The candidate did not make contact with the institution again.
The Government Delegation in the provincial administration of Palencia specified that the investigation was initiated upon detecting "possible irregularities in documentation provided by one of the candidates" during the recruitment process. A formal complaint was filed on 16 June, from which date National Police officers analysed the documentation, made inquiries of the competent registries and cross-checked information with the relevant bodies.
The results of these investigations revealed indications of "possible use of falsified or irregular documentation within the recruitment process", according to the same source. This led to the arrest of the suspect at the end of August.
