The incident triggered an operation by the National Police Robbery Group that concluded with his arrest for an alleged crime of unlawful possession of weapons.
The initial alerts came through the emergency number 091, whose operators received several calls from residents reporting an armed man circulating through the Palma neighbourhoods of Son Gotleu and El Rafal. A witness stated that the driver was in a clear state of intoxication and repeatedly said he had to kill someone. At one point, the individual fired from inside the vehicle against his own windscreen, leaving a hole in the glass consistent with a gunshot.
Given the seriousness of the events, the Robbery Group took over the investigation from the outset. After numerous efforts to locate both the driver and the vehicle, the investigation placed the suspect at a property in Llucmajor. Officers established a special operation and managed to intercept the individual.
During a search of the property, the National Police found a 38-calibre revolver with two cartridges and one spent casing, a second air-powered revolver with pellets, and two large bladed weapons. The vehicle was impounded for a detailed inspection by the Scientific Police, which confirmed the hole in the front windscreen as a result of a shot fired from inside. The detainee was placed at the disposal of the judiciary for unlawful possession of weapons.
