A 20-year-old man has been taken into custody in Palma following a report of continuous sexual conduct against his stepbrother, a three-year-old child. The reported facts also include physical mistreatment of the minor. The investigation began when the child's biological father, who shared custody with the mother following the couple's separation, observed extreme rejection behaviour from the child towards the latter's home, according to La Vanguardia.

The child began to describe situations in which the accused touched him inappropriately and struck him when they were alone together. The teaching staff at the child's school also noticed abrupt changes in the child's behaviour, which led them to activate the child protection protocol and report the facts to the authorities.

The father took the child to Son Espases University Hospital, where doctors carried out various tests on him. Among them, a genital culture revealed the presence of gonococcus, a microorganism transmitted exclusively through sexual contact. The specialists informed the UFAM that this condition could only have been acquired through intimate contact.

Following this finding, investigators accelerated their enquiries and proceeded with the arrest. At his hearing before the judge, the arrested man limited himself to speaking with his lawyer and denied the charges. The judicial authority agreed to release him on bail with protective measures, including a prohibition from approaching within two hundred metres of the child. The case remains open pending new forensic evidence.
