A man was arrested by National Police officers as the suspected perpetrator of an offence against public health, following an operation against the illicit trafficking of narcotic substances in the city of Santiago.
The investigation was initiated at the beginning of the current year, when information was received about a property located in the southern part of the city that could be being used for drug sales. After several months of surveillance, officers confirmed that the property was operating as a distribution centre for narcotic substances.
The Judicial Police Brigade conducted a search of the residence, where a total of ninety grams of cocaine and one hundred and fifty grams of hashish were seized. Additionally, seven thousand three hundred euros in cash were seized, divided into banknotes of different denominations, along with various tools used for weighing and packaging the drugs.
With this operation, the authorities consider the point of sale of narcotic substances operating in the area to have been dismantled.
The arrested man was brought before the corresponding judicial authority to determine his procedural situation.
The successful outcome of this intervention was achieved thanks to close coordination between the police forces and active participation by neighbours. In recent years, the city of Santiago has seen multiple similar operations that benefited from valuable contribution from the population.
