Man arrested in Santoña as suspect in fatal stabbing in Getafe over drug debt

The National Police arrested two men as suspected perpetrators of the murder of a man aged approximately 55 years stabbed in Getafe (Madrid), according to Google News ES — Crime (es) citing police sources relayed to Europa Press. One of the detainees was located in Santoña (Cantabria), the town to which he reportedly fled after the crime; the second was arrested in Madrid.
The assault took place at approximately 00:30 hours on 13 April in the vicinity of San Sebastián street in Getafe. Officers from the National Police and Local Police, along with emergency services from Summa 112, travelled to the scene. The victim presented several stab wounds to the thorax and abdomen; he was stabilised and transferred in serious condition to the 12 de Octubre University Hospital in Madrid, where he died as a result of his injuries.
Initially, investigators considered that the assault could be linked to an attempted robbery. Subsequent investigation allowed the identification of the two suspects and ruled out that initial hypothesis. The newspaper El Mundo reported in advance that the motive appeared to be related to a debt connected with narcotics.
Following the crime, one of the suspects left Madrid and was located and arrested in Santoña. The second arrest was made in the capital. The National Police is continuing the investigation to determine the exact circumstances of the crime, the degree of participation of each detainee and confirm the possible motive related to the drug debt.
