Man arrested in Seville for shooting at La Barqueta on 15 August
The National Police arrested the alleged perpetrator of a shooting at La Barqueta that left a man wounded by gunshot to the leg. The suspect, aged 45 and with a record for attempted homicide, was located at his home.
Shooting perpetrator arrested at La Barqueta after days of investigation
The National Police has arrested the alleged person responsible for a shooting that occurred during the night of 14 to 15 August at La Barqueta, according to Google News ES — Crime. A man of Maghrebi origin was wounded by gunshot in the incident, receiving two shots to the leg from a sawn-off shotgun.
The incident originated in a prior argument between the victim and the wife of the alleged assailant. Following the altercation, the suspect travelled to his home on a scooter, returned armed to the location and fired at his opponent.
The Homicide Group of the National Police took over the investigation and, within days, managed to identify the shooter. The detainee was arrested this Tuesday at his residence, located in the north of Seville. The weapon used was also recovered and placed at the disposal of the Ballistics department of the Scientific Police for analysis.
The Police clarified this Thursday that the victim suffered serious injuries: "injuries through which he lost a significant amount of blood, his life coming into danger". The suspect will be placed at the disposal of the courts as the alleged perpetrator of attempted homicide.
The arrested man is aged 45, Spanish nationality and has an extensive criminal record. Among his previous convictions is an arrest in 2009 for attempted homicide, in addition to records for robberies, knife-point thefts and drug trafficking.
On the same night of the shooting at La Barqueta, a homicide also occurred in the neighbourhood of El Tinte, in Utrera, the investigation of which is being handled by the Civil Guard. Hours later, a woman killed her boyfriend at a farmhouse in Estepa and was arrested for those acts.
