Arrested at a farmhouse in Tarragona after killing his partner in Switzerland
According to ABC, a 50-year-old man was arrested by the Guardia Civil at an isolated property in Riba-Roja d'Ebre, in the province of Tarragona, on suspicion of having killed his partner in Switzerland and concealing her remains in the garden of a property he owned in that country.
The investigation began in early 2026, when relatives of the woman reported her disappearance to the Swiss authorities. The Swiss police determined that the victim had died in Swiss territory and that the suspect had subsequently moved to Spain, where he settled in a property of difficult access in mountainous terrain.
Through international police cooperation mechanisms, the Swiss authorities informed the Spanish Guardia Civil of the facts. The investigation confirmed that the deceased woman never moved to Spain, which reinforced suspicions about the whereabouts of the man.
Locating the property proved difficult. The suspect had installed image recording systems on the property, which added difficulty to the surveillance operations that the Armed Institute carried out in the days prior to the arrest.
When the investigation pointed with sufficient certainty that the man had killed the woman, the operational phase was activated: simultaneous raids in Spain and Switzerland. At the Tarragona property, the Guardia Civil proceeded with the arrest of the suspect. It was at that moment when the arrested man confessed the exact location of the remains: in the garden of another property of his, located in Switzerland.
Forensic analysis confirmed that the remains found in the garden area indicated by the detainee corresponded to those of the missing woman. The exact cause of death remains pending the results of the autopsy.
