Man arrested in Torrejón for stealing bicycles and scooters in Alovera and Azuqueca
The Civil Guard arrested a 30-year-old man in Torrejón de Ardoz, attributed with seven robberies and five thefts of bicycles and scooters in the province of Guadalajara.
Arrested following a series of mobility vehicle thefts in Guadalajara municipalities
According to ABC, the Civil Guard has arrested a 30-year-old man in Torrejón de Ardoz as the alleged perpetrator of the theft of bicycles and electric scooters in Alovera and Azuqueca de Henares. Investigators attribute to him seven robbery offences and five theft offences committed over recent months.
The investigation was opened by officers from the Investigation Area of the Main Post in Azuqueca de Henares after a series of thefts of these vehicles was detected in both municipalities in the province of Guadalajara.
According to the inquiry, the alleged perpetrator targeted areas frequented by young people, taking advantage of spaces designated for parking bicycles and scooters. Amongst the affected locations are educational centres, sports complexes, the Renfe railway station and the European Youth Space.
The suspect allegedly selected vehicles located in easily accessible areas, broke the security systems and left the scene using the stolen scooters or bicycles themselves. After committing the thefts, he travelled to the railway station to travel to Torrejón de Ardoz, where he disposed of the stolen items.
The investigations made it possible to identify, locate and arrest the suspect in that locality. The detainee has an extensive criminal record.
