A man was arrested in Valladolid after making serious threats and verbally assaulting a neighbour using homophobic language. National Police are charging him with a hate crime and threatening behaviour.

A man was taken into custody in Valladolid on Sunday 14 June after being reported by a neighbour from the same building. National Police officers attended the address following an emergency call to 091 alerting them to a dispute between neighbours.
According to the aggrieved party, the conflict stems from a statement he made as a witness in proceedings against another resident of the building for ill-treatment. Since then, the man now detained is alleged to have launched a harassment campaign consisting of banging on the victim's door, scratching it and causing various damage.
The situation escalated minutes before the officers arrived, when the alleged aggressor banged on the neighbour's door and directed at him phrases such as "I'm going to grab you by the neck and I'm going to disembowel you", accompanied by homophobic insults. Following the incident, the individual left the scene.
As the officers were taking a statement from the victim, the suspect appeared on the landing. The police requested his identification, but he refused to cooperate for around ten minutes. In the presence of the officers, he again addressed the neighbour, repeating the insults and threats.
Following these events, the officers proceeded to arrest him on suspicion of a hate crime and threatening behaviour. He was subsequently taken to the police station and, after appearing before a judge, was released.
