The proceedings were subsequently transferred to the Foral Police of Navarre.
Initially, the Table Against Sexist Assaults During Festivities in Zizur Mayor was informed that the arrested man was under 18 years of age. However, following his identification, it was established that he is over 18 years old.
The assault consisted of touching suffered by the minor. The Table has called for this Tuesday 1 September, at 19:30 hours, a protest concentration in Erreniega park, next to the Casa de Cultura of Zizur Mayor.
In a statement, the Table expressed its "absolute rejection of any form of sexist violence" and demanded that "festivities and leisure spaces must be safe spaces, where all people can enjoy themselves and interact with freedom and without fear of suffering any type of violence". The text also expresses solidarity with the minor and those close to her, underlining the need to "respect her privacy at all times and avoid any exposure that could contribute to her revictimisation".
The statement emphasises that "sexist violence is not an individual problem or a private matter", but rather "a collective responsibility" that demands "a firm response from all of society". The Table calls on the citizens, groups, associations and entities of Zizur Mayor to participate in the concentration and to express collectively their rejection of sexist assaults.
The Table Against Sexist Assaults During Festivities is made up of the Municipality of Zizur Mayor and the local feminist groups Mujeres Libres, Zizurko Talde Feminista and Emakume Zizurtarrak.
