A man arrested for the murder of a young Ukrainian woman in A Coruña has confessed to officers that he killed her because he believed she was spying on him through the building's ventilation ducts.

The detainee, 28 years old, was released last Friday after appearing before the judge, who imposed the obligation to appear periodically before the court. The victim, Larysa, 21 years old and also of Ukrainian origin, was found dead in her home in the Galician capital.

According to information provided by police sources, the alleged perpetrator told investigators that the young woman was watching him through the ventilation systems in the residence. This account, however, has been dismissed by the authorities.

The incident has shocked the Ukrainian community residing in the city, who have closely followed the development of the investigation. The National Police made the arrest after gathering initial evidence in the case.

The investigating judge has ordered precautionary measures less severe than provisional detention, including periodic appearances before the judicial body, whilst investigations continue.
