A 59-year-old resident of Belgian nationality was arrested on Wednesday in Dénia (Alicante) following a fight that cost the life of another resident of the complex, according to Levante-EMV.

The incident occurred at around 18:00 hours in the Palovi residential estate, opposite Les Deveses beach. Both individuals had been involved in a long-standing neighbourhood dispute that escalated that day into a physical altercation in the car park area.

During the confrontation, the deceased, aged 43, received a punch that knocked him down. Upon impact with the ground, he struck his head fatally. Emergency services were only able to confirm his death.

The alleged aggressor was the one who alerted the police. After making the call, he checked that the other man was unresponsive and took his pulse, confirming he had died. Officers detained him on suspicion of manslaughter and took him to Dénia police station.

A judicial commission was dispatched to the scene for the removal of the body. Forensic experts from the Institute of Legal Medicine will carry out an autopsy to establish the exact causes of death.
