Man arrested for rape in Taconera Park in Pamplona; second suspect at large
A 26-year-old man was arrested in Pamplona following an alleged sexual assault on a victim in Taconera Park. A second suspect remains at large.
Arrest for sexual assault at Taconera; one suspect still at large
According to diariodenavarra.es, Pamplona's Municipal Police detained a 26-year-old man on Thursday morning as the alleged perpetrator of a sexual assault with penetration that occurred in Taconera Park.
The incident took place at around three o'clock in the early hours of Wednesday to Thursday, near the Portal Nuevo. The victim, a young man who was returning home, was approached by at least two individuals of Moroccan origin, who allegedly beat him, robbed him and subsequently sexually assaulted him.
One of the alleged perpetrators had been spending the night in a tent covered with plastic and concealed among the park's vegetation. Officers arrested him at that location and cordoned off both the area where he was found and the exact spot in Taconera Park where the incident occurred.
Following his arrest, the detainee appeared before the duty judge on Thursday afternoon, who ordered him remanded in custody. The second suspect has fled and has not been located.
Pamplona Municipal Police report for May
Pamplona's Municipal Police processed proceedings against 97 people in May as alleged perpetrators of various offences. Of these, 70 were placed at the disposal of the courts as detainees, whilst another 27 were investigated without being detained.
Among the 70 arrests, the Municipal Police highlight 15 cases of domestic abuse, 8 offences of assault against authority, 7 cases of bodily harm and another 7 arrests pursuant to search warrants and appearance orders.
Of the 27 people investigated without being detained, 17 were so for driving under the influence of alcohol, 3 for having exhausted all points on their driving licence, 2 for driving under the influence of drugs or psychotropic substances and another 2 for refusing to undergo alcohol breath tests.
