The Mossos d'Esquadra detained on Thursday one of the occupants of a flat on Muntaner street in Barcelona, according to reports from La Vanguardia, which has been following the case over recent weeks. The arrest took place at 15:50 hours in compliance with a judicial resolution.
In a statement, the police force of the Generalitat explained that the operation stems from an investigation into alleged offences of illegal entry, threats and coercion. "Within this framework, the judicial authority has authorised an entry and search of the property in question. The result is one person detained," the official text states.
The flat had been operating for months as a meeting point for people with serious drug consumption problems, which had severely undermined coexistence in the building. Neighbours regularly encountered intoxicated individuals in common areas of the property.
The surveillance operation deployed around the building involved officers from the Guardia Urbana and the Mossos d'Esquadra, both uniformed and plainclothes. Among the units involved were the Regional Area of Operational Resources (ARRO), Citizen Security, Investigation, Urban Crime and the Community Relations Office (ORC), the latter responsible for attending to and informing affected residents.
