A baker has been arrested in Suerte de Saavedra (Badajoz) for the murder of David Salazar, a neighbour who came to collect a financial debt. The victim was dismembered and cremated.

A tradesman engaged in bread-making has been taken into police custody in the Extremadura municipality of Suerte de Saavedra, accused of killing David Salazar. The deceased had gone to the detainee's business to demand reimbursement of a sum of money that was owed to him.
According to the newspaper Hoy, the legal representative of the victim's family, Fernando Cumbres, went to the judicial headquarters of Badajoz on Friday to request that the detainee be tried for wilful homicide, desecration of mortal remains and destruction of evidence, given that the body was mutilated and subsequently burned.
The solicitor noted that the origin of the crime would be linked to a monetary dispute: "Apparently, the person who is in detention owed money to the deceased and, in order to settle that obligation, would have chosen to eliminate David, a decision that is unacceptable from any perspective."
The detainee, known as Juanfran, appeared before the Investigating Court number 3 in the capital of Badajoz. The family's legal defence asked for him to be immediately imprisoned, without the possibility of bail.
Cumbres has left open the possibility that there may be accomplices, particularly regarding the transportation of the remains, which were moved in two containers. "It is not ruled out that someone else may have participated, although we cannot confirm that at the moment," he stated.
The victim's relatives have been devastated by the turn of events: after three days of intensive searching, they discovered that David had been murdered and that his body had suffered mutilation and cremation. The family spokesperson thanked the homicide specialist group of the National Police of Badajoz and condemned the violent incidents that took place during the search of the bakery, in which four officers and a reporter were injured.
The relatives have distanced themselves from these disturbances: "We deeply regret what happened, we understand the anger and pain of the neighbours at such a brutal crime, but no violent act can be justified."
