German tourist killed with over 20 stab wounds in Isla Cristina – partner arrested

A 47-year-old German woman with numerous stab wounds has been found dead on a busy section of beach in the Andalusian coastal town of Isla Cristina. According to reports citing local newspaper "Huelva Información", her 60-year-old partner, an Italian national, was arrested at the scene.
An emergency call came in to the Guardia Civil on Friday morning at 08.50. Rescue personnel who arrived at the promenade of a beach section in Huelva province were only able to confirm the woman's death. According to media reports, the body bore more than 20 stab wounds.
The 60-year-old partner was at the scene with a knife in his hand when emergency services arrived. Armed police officers arrested him immediately. He is considered a prime suspect in the killing of his partner.
The couple had been travelling through Spain together in a motorhome. The vehicle is parked near the scene and has since been cordoned off by investigators with tape and examined for evidence.
The reason for the attack and what motive may lie behind it remain unclear. The murder investigation is ongoing.
