The superior court in Valencia handed down a sentence on Tuesday in proceedings concerning sexual assault committed in March 2025. Two men, initially identified as M. and E., were convicted after admitting to the magistrate that they had abused a girl inside a van parked in an empty lot in the Mediterranean city, according to reporting by El Periódico Extremadura.
The sequence of events dates back to 21 March of the year in question. The two defendants, the victim and her boyfriend—a teenager who had not yet turned eighteen—travelled together to the El Cabanyal neighbourhood in order to purchase narcotics. After obtaining cocaine, they stopped in an unpopulated area.
There, the victim's romantic partner coerced her into sexual contact with one of the defendants, precisely the person who had paid for the substances. The aim, according to the public prosecution, was to settle the amount owed for the purchase.
The girl strongly objected, but the young man and the second defendant kept her confined inside the vehicle with the other individual, who ultimately subjected her against her will.
At the oral hearing on Tuesday, both defendants acknowledged their participation. The court imposed a sentence of twelve years in prison, a 500-metre restraining order from the victim for fifteen years, five years of post-release supervision and seventeen years of prohibition from any activity involving minors. The ruling, pronounced verbally at the proceeding, cannot be appealed.
The defendants' legal representatives will file a petition during the execution phase requesting that, once at least one-third of the prison sentence has been served, deportation from national territory be ordered. At the same time, the Office of the Prosecutor for Minors maintains active investigations into the involvement of the victim's boyfriend, given that he was a minor when the acts occurred.
