Arrest of volleyball coach for sexual abuse of minor in Las Palmas
A volleyball coach has been arrested in Las Palmas accused of sexually assaulting a minor whom he had trained for two seasons, according to El Mundo citing the Superior Police Headquarters of the Canary Islands.
The incidents took place in December 2025 at the home of the suspect. The victim herself filed a complaint with the National Police, whose Family and Women's Assistance Unit assumed responsibility for investigating the case.
The detainee maintained contact with the minor through a social network, through which he had allegedly provided her with his telephone number and his home address. The young woman travelled to that location, and it was at that place where, allegedly, sexual relations took place against her will, according to details provided by the Headquarters.
The prior relationship between both parties went back two seasons as trainer and player, a circumstance which, according to the authorities, facilitated contact between the suspect and the victim.
Following investigations carried out by officers, the coach was located and arrested. Once police proceedings were concluded, he was placed at the disposal of the competent judicial authority.
