Body of woman found in well in Málaga after partner's confession
The remains of a 35-year-old resident of the Málaga neighbourhood of Ciudad Jardín have been recovered from a well on a plot of land in Rincón de la Victoria, nearly three months after she went missing. The discovery was made on Wednesday after her 49-year-old former partner admitted to investigators that he had killed her and showed them the location where he had dumped her, according to ABC.
The victim had been missing since 31 March. In April, her family filed a missing persons report, which triggered an investigation coordinated between the National Police and the Civil Guard. Both the National Centre for Missing Persons and SOS Desaparecidos issued alerts with her physical description to request public collaboration.
In the course of the investigation, officers carried out three inspections at properties in the capital of Málaga and in Rincón de la Victoria. Finally, the arrested man confessed to the murder and indicated the well, located in a rural area near the Añoreta service station, next to exit 968 of the A-7 motorway towards Almería.
Officers from the GEAS unit of the Civil Guard were responsible for removing the body from the well. On an initial on-site examination, the victim's tattoos allowed for provisional identification. Later, comparison of genetic profiles in the laboratory confirmed her identity. The remains were transferred to the Medical Legal Institute in Málaga for the corresponding autopsy.
In addition to the main suspect, a man and a woman have been detained as alleged accessories. The judge has ordered the investigations to be kept under seal.
The Government sub-delegate in Málaga, Javier Salas, has expressed his condolences and characterised the incident as another case of gender-based violence. "We cannot allow male violence to continue destroying lives and inflicting such pain," he stated.
The deceased was the mother of a minor and was 35 years old. Her last interaction on social media dates from 4 April.
