The National Police detained a 30-year-old man who had approached his former partner's home despite being subject to a restriction imposed by a court in Villarcayo.

A 30-year-old man was taken into custody on 28 May in Burgos after disobeying a court order prohibiting him from contacting his ex-partner, a woman in her twenties. The arrest was carried out by officers from the UFAM, the specialist unit for dealing with victims of gender-based violence.
Everything began when a police officer responsible for victim protection received a telephone alert. The information indicated that the former boyfriend was travelling on a public transport vehicle heading towards the Burgos capital, with the aim of locating the young woman. Officers confirmed that there was indeed an active court order issued by the judicial authority in Villarcayo, which prohibited the suspect from approaching within 200 metres of the victim and from maintaining any form of communication with her. This prohibition had been decreed following a previous report of repeated assaults in a domestic setting.
The officers mounted a discreet operation and located the individual as he got off the bus at the Miranda Street stop. From there he walked to the address where the young woman was staying, managed to speak with her and both entered the house.
Once the breach of the precautionary measure was confirmed, the uniformed officers entered the flat with permission from the owner. They found the man hidden inside a wardrobe and proceeded with his arrest. He was subsequently brought before the competent judge.
