A 30-year-old man, originally from Mali, was arrested in the early hours of Saturday in Cenicero after assaulting three people in a public place and violently resisting the officers who proceeded to arrest him. According to Google News ES — Crime, the incident took place during the celebration of the XVII Wine Encounter scheduled that weekend in the La Rioja locality.

The events occurred on Avenida de La Rioja, at the height of Plaza de España, with the cause of the altercation not having been revealed. Among those assaulted, the most serious cases are a 50-year-old man and a 52-year-old woman, both with injuries that required medical attention. A third victim suffered less serious injuries. As confirmed by the newspaper La Rioja, one of the injured is a councillor from the governing team of Cenicero's town hall.

Upon arrest, the individual resisted and caused minor injuries to two Guardia Civil officers, which led to an additional charge of attack on authority. The officers transferred him to Cenicero barracks, where the appropriate proceedings were processed and the case was placed at the disposal of the judiciary.
