Google News ES — Crime (es) reports that the 60-year-old Italian man arrested last Friday in Isla Cristina in connection with the death of his partner has been released by judicial order.
The Guardia Civil of Huelva communicated via an official statement that, after concluding the technical-visual inspection carried out by the Judicial Police Team at the scene and incorporating the preliminary forensic report to the file, the judicial authority decreed the release of the detainee. The Armed Institute noted that "the evidence gathered at the scene and the analytical results rule out the initial hypothesis that motivated the detention of the man".
The victim, a 47-year-old woman also of Italian nationality, was found dead on 28 August on La Gaviota beach with injuries caused by a sharp weapon. With the release of the detainee, the authorities have likewise ruled out classification of the case as gender-based violence.
According to sources from the investigation consulted by El Correo de Andalucía, at present there is no hypothesis pointing to the involvement of a third party in the events. The couple regularly resided in Germany and were carrying out a tourist route in a motorhome through various points of the Iberian Peninsula at the time of the incident.
The man had no criminal record, and the victim was not listed in the Viogén System, the state register for monitoring cases of gender-based violence. The investigation remains open.
