Spanish national intercepted with over 27 kilos of hashish entering from Morocco

A Spanish citizen was detained when attempting to enter national territory from Morocco whilst transporting a significant quantity of hashish. During a search of his vehicle, agents discovered more than twenty-seven kilograms of the narcotic substance.

The interception took place at a border control point, where customs surveillance conducted an exhaustive inspection of the suspect's automobile. During the search, they located packages of drugs perfectly concealed in different compartments of the car.

The competent authorities have informed the judiciary of the facts. The detainee will be placed at the disposal of the competent judicial authority in the coming hours, accused of an alleged offence against public health in its form of drug trafficking.

This seizure adds to other similar operations conducted in the area, where drug trafficking from North Africa constitutes one of the main lines of action for the security forces. Hashish from Morocco is one of the drugs most frequently seized at border controls in the Strait of Gibraltar.
