Drone with over one kilogramme of hashish intercepted at Alhaurín de la Torre prison
A remote-controlled drone transporting drugs has been found inside Alhaurín de la Torre penitentiary centre in the province of Málaga. The small device was discovered in the cell of an inmate who, according to initial investigations, intended to distribute the substance among other prisoners.
Prison officials intercepted the delivery and the prisoner has already given a statement to the centre's monitoring and control unit. This department will prepare a report to be sent to the duty court for the alleged crime of drug trafficking within the prison.
Penitentiary sources have confirmed to Canal Sur that the drone had deposited more than one kilogramme of hashish in the prison. Centre staff suspect that this would not have been the first delivery and that there could be previous shipments that went undetected.
The judicial investigation must now determine who was acting as the inmate's accomplice from outside to pilot the drone and get the drug into the prison.
