Officers from the municipal security force of El Puerto de Santa María carried out an operation in which they seized nearly three hundred counterfeit garments. The operation took place at the mobile market that is set up every Tuesday in the locality.

The operation is part of periodic actions aimed at combating the sale of goods that infringe intellectual and industrial property rights. The municipal authority emphasises that this type of illicit business harms both legitimate brands and individuals who acquire such products.

According to the person responsible for the Security Councillorship, Jesús Garay, the seized items lack the mandatory quality certificates and do not pass the safety tests required by textile legislation. The councillor has made an appeal to citizens to avoid purchasing these items, as in addition to the economic damage to original brands, they present health risks to those who use them by failing to offer proper guarantees.

The Town Council has announced that municipal patrols will maintain controls in different areas of the urban centre in order to ensure compliance with current regulations, safeguard the interests of consumers and promote responsible commercial practices.
