Man tried in Albacete for sexually assaulting a young woman in public
A court in the Castilla-La Mancha city will hold a trial on Wednesday, 17 June against a man for alleged sexual abuse committed in the summer of last year. The defendant, identified as S.E.J., faces a request for four years in prison from the Public Prosecutor's Office.
According to the private accusation, everything happened in July 2025 when the victim, a minor, was returning home alone after having been with friends at a nightlife venue. The defendant approached her on a street in the Albacete capital and attempted to engage her in conversation.
The minor, uncomfortable with the situation, told him she was going home so he would leave her alone. It was then that the man, rather than withdrawing, put his hands underneath the young woman's lower garment and began to touch her. The victim repeatedly asked him to stop and even pushed him, but the defendant persisted in his behaviour and moved closer again to repeat the improper touching over her underwear, ignoring the girl's screams and pleas.
The assault only ended when the man realised there were witnesses in the area. Minutes later, a National Police patrol arrested him after receiving the alert. The victim filed a formal complaint against him.
In addition to the custodial sentence, the Public Prosecutor's Office is requesting that he be banned from approaching the young woman, her residence or anywhere she frequents within a radius of half a kilometre.
