The magistrate of Granada's Court of First Instance has decided to extend by a further six months the investigation into alleged fraud in recruitment calls for the Local Police. The new deadline has been set for 5 December 2026, according to details from Granada Hoy.
The case file, which has already accumulated more than 4,000 pages and 48 people under investigation, has taken on the dimensions of a major case. Its conclusion was initially scheduled for late 2025, but this is already the second extension authorised with the support of the Public Prosecutor and the parties involved.
The investigation covers the alleged rigging of four recruitment calls for the Granada police force—for 40 and 32 positions respectively—as well as processes in the municipalities of Algarinejo and Albolote. Alleged irregularities in examinations in other towns such as Órgiva, Las Gabias and Santa Fe are also being examined.
According to the judicial ruling, evidence points to the existence of two criminal networks within the police force. One of them, linked to the PP, would be connected to the chat known as "KGB". The other, with affinity to the PSOE, has members still to be identified following analysis being carried out by the UDEF on seized mobile phones.
Beyond the alleged examination fraud, investigations are underway into irregularities in the hiring of the psychology specialist who participated in these recruitment processes. The judge notes that ongoing investigations "are providing serious and solid evidence" regarding the facts under investigation.
Among pending actions are statements from the 48 accused, expert reports from the University of Granada on the selection examinations, and analysis of electronic devices seized. Work is also underway to improve the quality of recordings obtained using a pen with a microphone delivered by a protected witness, for which support from forensic acoustics specialists has been requested.
