National Police officers have arrested in the city of Valencia an individual who figures among the fugitives most actively pursued by Czech Republic authorities. The arrestee is accused of serious fraud charges linked to a fuel transaction that was never completed, causing economic damage exceeding two million euros to the affected company.
According to ABC, the capture was achieved following a surveillance operation that made it possible to locate the wanted man in Spanish territory.
This arrest constitutes the first success arising from ENFAST Trackathon 2026, an international police collaboration initiative coordinated by Europol and carried out on 3 and 4 June in The Hague.
During that meeting, approximately one hundred investigators and analysts specialised in open-source intelligence (OSINT) from 31 nations, together with professionals from the private sector, examined 57 cases of high-profile criminals. From that analysis, new investigative leads emerged in 56 cases and data on possible whereabouts in 26 others.
The multidisciplinary teams studied digital traces of the fugitives, including telephone records, profiles on social media platforms, aliases and other online indicators. At the same time, FAST teams throughout Europe remained alert to intervene without delay upon any relevant information.
Thanks to the exchange of operational information generated during the event, the possible location of the now arrested individual could be identified. National Police investigators mounted a surveillance operation that concluded with his arrest in Valencia.
The fraudulent operation in which the arrestee allegedly participated consisted of a supposed fuel shipment originating in Venezuela that never actually materialised, causing losses exceeding €2,000,000 to the affected company.
With this arrest, Spain has achieved the first detention resulting from ENFAST Trackathon 2026, demonstrating the effectiveness of international police cooperation and the exchange of data among European security forces.
