Drug traffickers shoot at police officers in Vélez-Málaga during raid on drug-boat warehouse
A group of drug traffickers opened fire on police officers from the Udyco-Costa del Sol Group in Vélez-Málaga. Two people were arrested and the vehicles involved remain unlocated.

A group of drug traffickers fired at officers from the Udyco-Costa del Sol Group of the Vélez-Málaga Police Station as they intervened at a warehouse used as a storage facility and garage for drug boats, according to ABC. None of the officers were injured.
The incident occurred when police officers, in the context of an active anti-drug operation, were preparing to arrest a man who was at the entrance to the warehouse. At that moment, two vehicles occupied by five individuals approached the location and their occupants opened fire on the officers with firearms.
The gunfire enabled the group to flee whilst police responded to the assault. The two vehicles belonging to the criminals collided with each other during the escape and took the A-7 heading towards Málaga. The National Police stated that the flight created serious danger for both the officers and other drivers. At one point during the pursuit, the traffickers knocked over a motorcyclist, who was unharmed.
Following the exchange of gunfire, a search operation was activated and other security forces and bodies were alerted. The vehicles and their occupants had not been located at the time of reporting.
In the course of that same investigation, and just a few hours after the shooting, officers arrested a woman identified as a collaborator for the organisation. The man who was at the entrance to the warehouse had previously been arrested. In total, the Udyco-Costa del Sol Group has arrested two people, a man and a woman, without ruling out further arrests in the coming hours.
Members of the Scientific Police from the Local Brigade of the Vélez-Málaga Police Station travelled to the warehouse to carry out technical police inspection and to collect evidence from the confrontation.
Inside the premises, used as a warehouse and logistics point, investigators located several drug boats, containers used for fuel storage and, inside a van, two petrol tanks with a capacity that could reach 5,000 litres. Everything suggests that the warehouse functioned as a supply centre for the boats that the organisation kept at sea awaiting drug shipments.
The operation is part of the ongoing activity of the Udyco-Costa del Sol Group, specialised in anti-drug operations in the area of the Málaga coast.
