The National Police have arrested in Málaga the fugitive most wanted by German authorities, a drug trafficker who had been on the run for five years and who changed his identity every three months to avoid being located, according to Google News ES — Crime (es) citing a police statement published this Tuesday.
The detainee led a criminal organisation dedicated to importing large quantities of drugs into Germany. The operation was carried out in collaboration with the German Federal Office for Criminal Investigation (BKA). The arrested man has been remanded in custody pending appearance before the National Court.
He was subject to a European Arrest Warrant (OEDE) for drug trafficking and organised crime, as well as a judicial order from Spanish authorities. To hinder his location, he changed his phone number every two weeks and had received training in Turkey in cybersecurity techniques, including methods for evading tracking through operating systems, devices and social media. The individual is also an expert in boxing and mixed martial arts.
The investigation began in 2025, when information was obtained that the fugitive could be found in Spain, a country where he had previously resided. The organisation he led had a warehouse in Spanish territory from which it loaded drugs into lorries bound for Germany via France.
After several days of surveillance across different Spanish provinces, officers identified him on 24 August travelling as a co-pilot in a vehicle alongside his brother in Málaga, whereupon he was immediately arrested.
