A 37-year-old man and a 41-year-old woman have been arrested in La Rioja on charges of drug distribution, electricity fraud and unlawful detention of a teenager. The search yielded 1.5 kg of cannabis buds, cocaine, speed, hashish and replica firearms.

A 37-year-old man and a 41-year-old woman were arrested in the La Rioja town of Cenicero on suspicion of operating a drug distribution business from their home. Both are Spanish nationals and residents of the region, and face charges of drug trafficking, electricity supply fraud and child abduction.
The operation was launched following several complaints from neighbours who reported suspicious activity at the property. Members of the Cenicero Station and the Guardia Civil's Investigation Group gathered evidence confirming that the premises served as a regular site for drug sales. Investigators also detected that electricity was being supplied via an illegal connection to the public network.
Armed with a court order, specialised USECIC agents raided the flat. Inside they found the couple and a young woman who had fled a care centre in 2023. The investigation revealed that the teenager was the daughter of the arrested woman, whose legal custody had previously been removed.
The search uncovered a significant haul distributed across several rooms: 1.5 kilograms of cannabis flowers, 23 grams of cocaine, 72 grams of amphetamine and 90 grams of hashish. The total value of the substance is approximately €14,000.
In a room set up as a greenhouse, officers found 60 Cannabis sativa plants surrounded by technical equipment: floodlights, ventilators, dehumidifiers, automatic irrigation systems and measuring devices. The installation was designed to produce multiple harvests per year.
In addition to the drugs, officers seized precision scales, vacuum-sealing machines, €420 in cash, six mobile phones, two bicycles and three electric scooters. Three replica firearms also came to light—a Glock-style pistol, a pump-action shotgun and an assault rifle—positioned in different parts of the house with sufficiently realistic appearance to inspire fear.
The case file, the detainees and all seized items were transferred to the relevant judicial authority and the Public Prosecution Office for Minors.
