A man and a woman are in provisional prison in Zuera after killing her ex-spouse in Zaragoza. Officers intercepted them at the bus station when they were attempting to leave the country.

A man and a woman remain in provisional prison accused of killing her ex-spouse in the Aragonese municipality of La Almunia de Doña Godina. The incident took place in May 2026 and investigators have yet to locate the murder weapon, according to judicial documentation accessed by ABC.
Everything began with a telephone call received by Joana, a neighbour of the area, at five o'clock in the morning on 5 May. Her friend Andreea urged her to go down to her home. There she confessed that her current partner, Daniel, had ended the life of her former spouse.
Later, Joana went to the Guardia Civil barracks to inform the authorities of what she had heard. She explained that Alexander—the victim—received a stab wound, took a few staggering steps and fell to the ground with blood in his mouth. Afterwards, the couple hid the body on an adjoining plot of land and buried it, along with the weapon, an excavation tool and a bicycle belonging to the deceased.
The body was located on 8 May near plot 28 of the municipality. That day, officers arrested the two suspects at the Zaragoza bus station, where they were about to board a vehicle bound for Romania. At the time of arrest, the alleged perpetrator spontaneously stated that the victim had attacked him first following an argument linked to controlled substances.
The autopsy determined that the deceased presented a sharp weapon injury to the back of the neck, an internal fracture from breaking of the neck caused by blunt force impact and another knife wound to the oral cavity, the latter inflicted when he was already on the ground.
At the crime scene, the deceased's bicycle, a stick that apparently served to remove blood traces, Alexander's trainers stained with blood and a beer can containing his mobile phone's SIM card were recovered. Despite cleaning and clearance work ordered on the plot, the knife used in the crime remains missing.
The alleged perpetrator has no previous criminal record. His female partner, by contrast, had previously been arrested for causing injury, assaulting public officials, family abuse and threatening with a sharp weapon. The deceased himself also had a record of arrests for injury, domestic violence and theft with force.
Before the judge, the man chose to remain silent. The woman, represented by different lawyers, attributed full blame to her partner. Despite this, investigators from the armed institute consider that she also actively participated in the events. Since 11 May both have been in preventive custody at the facility in Zuera.
