Disciplinary action against Koldo García following verbal altercation in Soto del Real prison

The Soto del Real penitentiary has opened disciplinary proceedings against Koldo García, a former collaborator of José Luis Ábalos, following a confrontation with another inmate in the sports area of the facility. According to police sources who confirmed the matter to ABC, the incident took place in recent days.

García holds responsibility for overseeing the gymnasium of the Madrid prison. In exercise of that function, he opened the facility and a breach of the regulatory occupancy limit occurred. The former adviser urged his fellow inmates to resolve the situation, but upon returning from his outdoor exercise routine, he found that the number of people remained excessive.

Faced with the repeated infraction, García decided to alert the surveillance staff. This action provoked the rejection of several inmates, who reproached his conduct, calling it informative. The tension escalated when one of the prisoners threatened the former adviser's minor daughter, which triggered an exchange of insults between the two.

The centre's officers and other inmates intervened to prevent the confrontation from escalating further. The other inmate involved is in isolation and is reported to have previously committed other acts of violence within the same establishment.

Koldo García's defence, represented by Leticia de la Hoz, has already submitted the corresponding submissions. Should the disciplinary action proceed, the accused could lose his position in the gymnasium or be deprived of yard access for a determined period of time.

The incident occurs whilst García and Ábalos await sentencing from the Supreme Court in the facemask case. Both continue to serve their sentences in Soto del Real.
