According to Google News ES — Crime (es), the Citizen Security Department of Barakaldo Town Hall announced this week that Local Police will collaborate with Lanbide-Basque Country Employment Service to control fraud in Guaranteed Income benefit (RGI) payments.
Barakaldo currently has 2,643 people receiving RGI, of which 1,574 are women and 1,069 are men.
Local officers will respond to requests from Lanbide's inspection services to verify the residence register of those individuals about whose actual residence there are doubts. Specifically, they will be responsible for identifying individuals flagged by Lanbide and verifying that they actually reside in the indicated addresses.
Ángel Madrazo, the delegated councillor for the Department, emphasised the importance of inter-institutional collaboration to ensure the correct application of public policies aimed at the most vulnerable people.
