Barakaldo strengthens control of fraud in social benefits
According to Google News ES — Crime (es), the Citizen Security Area of Barakaldo Town Council has announced that the Local Police will collaborate with Lanbide-Basque Country Employment Service to detect irregularities in the Guaranteed Income scheme (RGI).
Barakaldo currently has 2,643 recipients of the RGI, of which 1,574 are women and 1,069 are men.
Local officers will attend to requests from Lanbide's inspection services to verify the registration of those persons about whose actual residence there are doubts. Specifically, they will identify those affected as indicated by Lanbide and check whether they actually reside at the stated addresses.
The delegate councillor for the Area, Ángel Madrazo, emphasised the importance of inter-institutional collaboration to ensure the correct application of public policies directed at the most vulnerable people.
