Remand in custody ordered for man detained in connection with death of speech therapist in Valencia
Instruction Court Number 6 in Valencia has ordered remand in custody and refused bail for the man who confessed to having killed the speech therapist who treated his son at a clinic in the eastern Spanish city. The decision was made following the suspect's appearance before the judge.
The killing occurred inside a rehabilitation centre located in the Campanar neighbourhood. According to initial investigations, the attacker went to the facility and, after a brief exchange of words, attacked the healthcare professional with a knife, causing his death.
The alleged perpetrator was detained in the vicinity shortly after committing the act. During questioning by the National Police, he admitted responsibility for the crime and explained the motives that led him to act, linked to disagreements over the treatment his son was receiving at the centre.
The victim, aged 45, had been working as a speech therapist at the clinic for over a decade. Colleagues and family members have described him as a dedicated professional and well-liked in his working environment.
The case has shocked the healthcare community in Valencia, which has expressed dismay at the violence perpetrated against a professional in the course of his work.
