Man accused of killing his flatmate in Estepona remanded in custody

A judge in Estepona has ordered the detention in prison without bail of the man arrested for the alleged murder of his flatmate. The victim, 37, died on Wednesday following an attack with a sharp weapon.

The Court of First Instance number 1 of Estepona (Málaga) has ordered on Thursday the remand in custody, communicated and without bail, of the man arrested for allegedly killing his flatmate, according to information from Google News ES — Crime (es).

The detainee, 52 years old, is being investigated for an alleged offence of homicide, in accordance with what was stated by the Superior Court of Justice of Andalusia (TSJA). During his appearance before the judge, the arrested man gave a statement.

The events occurred on Monday of last week, after 20:00 hours, in a property in the municipality of Málaga. The Emergency System 112 Andalusia received a report of a fight between two men inside the building and immediately alerted the emergency services and the National Police.

According to police sources, the aggressor allegedly attacked the victim with a sharp weapon in the chest area. The victim, 37 years old, was transported to hospital in serious condition and died on Wednesday as a consequence of the injuries. The alleged perpetrator was arrested following the events.

The case is in the investigative stage, so the final classification of the facts may be determined in later stages of the judicial proceedings, as indicated by the TSJA.
