Woman detained and remanded in custody after fatal stabbing of her partner in Salamanca
A 44-year-old woman has been remanded in custody without bail on Tuesday for the death of her 51-year-old partner in a property on Petunias Street, in the Garrido neighbourhood of Salamanca. According to ABC, the measure was ordered by section 4 of the investigation court of the Court of First Instance in the Salamanca capital.
The High Court of Justice of Castile and León has confirmed that the case remains open on suspicion of homicide.
The incident occurred at around seven o'clock on Monday morning, when an emergency call alerted authorities that a man had been assaulted with a bladed weapon—apparently a knife—inside the home. Emergency medical services attempted to resuscitate him without success; the man did not survive the serious wounds he had received.
The woman was detained moments later as the alleged perpetrator of the stabbing. An extensive police operation remained deployed in the area from the early hours of the morning.
The Government's Sub-delegation in Salamanca reported that the detainee had been included in the Viogen gender-based violence case monitoring system, related to this same couple, although at the time of the incident she did not have any active protective measures in place.
