The trial against a man for whom public prosecutors are seeking a nine-year prison sentence will be held next Tuesday at the Provincial Court of La Coruña. The incidents took place in Miño on 21 November 2023.

According to the version given by the Public Prosecutor's Office, the defendant was driving his car through the municipality when he spotted his former partner, who was travelling in the opposite direction with an acquaintance. The driver immediately crossed into the opposite lane and crashed his vehicle head-on into hers. After the impact, he fled the scene.

Shortly afterwards, the same man appeared near the woman's home. He intercepted her, grabbed her by her clothing and the handbag she was carrying, and shouted that he was going to end her life.

The prosecution formally charges him with four offences: knowingly endangering the safety of other road users, causing serious injuries using a dangerous object, making serious threats against the victim, and committing physical assault. For the intentional ramming, it is seeking six years; for the subsequent violence, one year; and for the intimidation, a further two years.

Furthermore, the prosecutor is seeking compensation of €4,625.28 for bodily injuries and a further €1,049.98 for lasting consequences.
