Sexual exploitation network in Cangas de Morrazo: women held and forced to consume drugs

According to reports from ABC, the Civil Guard has uncovered a sexual exploitation network in a brothel flat located in Cangas de Morrazo, Pontevedra. The victims, several women, were forced to remain available to clients 24 hours a day, seven days a week, without being able to leave the property without express authorisation from the pimps.
In addition to the restriction of movement, the women had to hand over half of their income from sexual services to those under investigation. The investigation revealed that there were several flats used for prostitution, with a constant rotation of women between them.
The enquiries also revealed that the victims were forced to consume alcohol and drugs to encourage client spending and maximise the network's financial benefits. In some cases, they were instructed to simulate this consumption, with the aim of deceiving clients and increasing demand for drugs. They were also sold Viagra.
The Civil Guard is investigating a 37-year-old woman, resident of Cambados, and a man of the same age, resident of Bueu. The Armed Institute reported on Monday in a statement that both have records for facts of a similar nature. They are attributed crimes relating to prostitution, crimes against workers' rights and drug trafficking.
The proceedings have been forwarded to the Court of First Instance Civil and Instruction Section of the Cangas de Morrazo Guard Station.
