Officers from the National Police and Palma's local force executed an incursion into the Son Banya settlement on Thursday. The objective of the operation was to tackle the illegal sale of substances and dismantle makeshift buildings used for that activity.

The action was coordinated by the section specialising in narcotics and organised crime of the national force. Municipal agents also participated in the operation deployed in the area.

During previous investigations, investigators had confirmed the existence of several precarious constructions located at the entrance of the settlement. Allegedly, these buildings functioned as sales points from which groups dedicated to drug petty dealing supplied customers.

Son Banya, located in the Palma municipality, is one of the areas on the island where interventions of this type are carried out most frequently due to the persistence of small-scale drug trafficking.
