A Moroccan migrant has been detained and another remains admitted to Ceuta's University Hospital following a brawl that occurred early in the morning in the Miramar neighbourhood, very close to the border with Morocco. According to reports, the incident involved people who had entered the city illegally on 30 July.
The dispute began as an argument between two men, which escalated into an assault: one of them pushed the other, who fell down a nearby embankment and was left unconscious on the ground with a head wound that was bleeding heavily. It was local residents who alerted emergency services, and the victim was evacuated by ambulance to the hospital.
The aggressor, also of Moroccan nationality, was placed at the disposal of the National Police and is expected to be brought before a judge in the coming hours on a suspected charge of assault. Residents of the neighbourhood told police and local sources that clashes between migrants are frequent in that area, related to food, alcohol and the consumption of other substances.
In a separate incident, the Civil Guard detained another irregular immigrant after verifying that an entry ban for Spain was in force against him, resulting from a conviction for terrorist indoctrination for acts committed between 2022 and 2023, which had already led to his expulsion from Spanish territory. The individual had entered the autonomous city during the mass arrival on 30 July and had remained in a residence until the moment of his identification. After verifying that the ban was still in force, he was expelled to Morocco, according to local media El Faro de Ceuta.
