A UCO operation has resulted in six arrests and the search of the town hall of Soria, governed by socialists, as well as two private residences. The case, being handled by Instruction Court number 3 in the Castilian capital, is under the supervision of the provincial Public Prosecutor's Office.
Four of those arrested were apprehended in Soria, whilst the other two were detained in Madrid. Sources close to the investigation indicate that further arrests are not ruled out as the case progresses.
The alleged offences being examined include bribery, abuse of office, activities prohibited for public employees, document falsification, money laundering and membership of a criminal group. The variety of breaches suggests a criminal structure rooted in municipal management.
The local government team has issued a statement affirming full cooperation with the courts and police forces, providing all requested documentation. The town hall emphasises that the investigation is proceeding under court secrecy and judicial supervision, so it is unaware of the exact scope of the inquiries.
