Seven British tourists arrested for assaulting police officers in Magaluf
Seven young British tourists aged between 22 and 28 were arrested after attacking police officers in Magaluf. They appeared before a Palma court and were released.
Seven arrested in Magaluf following assault on police officers
Seven British tourists aged between 22 and 28 were detained in the early hours of Thursday in Magaluf after assaulting officers from the Calvià Police Force, according to the Majorca Daily Bulletin.
At approximately 00:40 hours, police patrols observed a fight outside a premises on Punta Ballena street. Several individuals were throwing glasses at one another. A group of them ignored officers' instructions to stop and lunged at the police officers who had exited the vehicle.
The officers were pushed and the group attempted to flee. After requesting reinforcements, the detainees violently assaulted the police officers, who received assistance from security guards to restrain them.
One of those involved managed to escape temporarily, but was pursued by a police vehicle. He offered considerable resistance before being immobilised.
The seven detainees, who were staying in three different hotels, appeared before a Palma court that same Thursday, where they were charged with serious resistance, assault and disturbance of public order. All were released following the hearing.
There is no additional information on possible future legal proceedings.
