On 22 June, the Provincial Court of Córdoba will try an employee accused of assaulting a colleague with extreme violence following a row that originated at the workplace.

According to the indictment consulted by ABC, the altercation began when the defendant complained about the duties he had been assigned. His colleague demanded that he carry them out or, otherwise, leave the premises.

Moments later, whilst the victim was on the ground eating, the defendant attacked him by surprise from behind. First he kicked him in the face with his boots; then, once the other man was already on the ground almost unconscious, he delivered several punches to him.

The Public Prosecutor considers that these acts constitute a crime of serious bodily harm with disfigurement, an aggravating circumstance that the Penal Code punishes with higher sentences than basic bodily harm.

The Prosecution is seeking a sentence of four years in prison for the defendant, along with disqualification from exercising passive voting rights during the period of the sentence.
