Three arrested in Benidorm with 15 kilos of heroin in a taxi
The National Police intercepted three men at a checkpoint in the English zone of Benidorm after observing suspicious movements inside the vehicle.

The National Police arrested three men, aged 50 and 62, in Benidorm for drug trafficking after locating approximately 15 kilograms of heroin distributed in several packages inside a suitcase in their luggage, according to ABC.
Agents from the operational response group of Benidorm's police station were conducting a preventive checkpoint on a road in the English zone when they noticed a taxi with three passengers plus the driver. The agents observed that the passengers were making unusual movements, as if attempting to conceal something, which prompted the order to stop the vehicle.
During identification and security searches of the occupants, one of them attempted to flee on foot but was immediately intercepted by the agents. Subsequently, the police team inspected the vehicle's luggage and found the packages of heroin in one of the suitcases, proceeding to arrest the three passengers.
Among the belongings of those arrested, eight high-end mobile phones were also seized, a notebook with notes, and various currencies: 95,000 Hungarian forints, 425 Turkish pounds, and 85 euros.
Following police procedures, the three arrested individuals were handed over to the duty investigating courts in Benidorm. The judge ordered them to be remanded in custody.
The operation is part of the permanent surveillance arrangement that the National Police deploys at various points in cities for the repression of drug trafficking and other illicit activities. The checkpoints are carried out on a random and coordinated basis.
