Fresh attack with caustic liquid against soldiers in Ceuta

The Civil Guard arrested three Moroccan citizens in Ceuta on Sunday for launching bottles filled with caustic liquid at a patrol of the Armed Forces, according to reports from La Vanguardia. None of the soldiers was injured.

The incident occurred in the afternoon in the San Amaro area, a location near the coast where the Army maintains a control operation, according to police sources cited by news agency Efe. The three migrants threw the bottles without any of them reaching the officers.

After locating those involved, the Civil Guard proceeded with their arrest.

The Spanish Armed Forces Troop and Sailor Association (ATME) denounced this "fresh attack" and called "urgently" for military service to be recognised as a high-risk profession and for soldiers to be granted the status of law-enforcement officers. The association expressed regret at observing "how it seems that soldiers are the target" of migrants.
